Bills quarterback Geno Smith gets suspended for ‘boiling on body’ on Sunday
A Bills quarterback who suffered a head injury Sunday against the Carolina Panthers was ordered to undergo an “urgent examination” after the NFL confirmed it was the result of a hit.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, a two-time Super Bowl champion and six-time Pro Bowl selection, suffered a concussion after a hard hit to his head that led to a head-on collision.
The league announced Monday that Smith was suspended for the game for conduct detrimental to the team.
Brady did not return to the game Sunday and was unable to participate in Thursday’s practice.
Smith’s suspension comes a week after Patriots defensive lineman Damon Harrison, who had two sacks and an interception, was suspended two games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
The Bills released a statement Monday saying they had “no comment” on the suspension.
The Bills’ season opener is Monday at New Orleans.
